Tasmania’s winter chill is no match for a good book, as Libraries Tasmania launches its Warm Winter Read campaign, inviting adults and young people aged 16 and over to snuggle up with a story and connect with fellow readers.
Running from 1 July 1 to 31 August 2025, this campaign is designed to be flexible and inclusive, catering to all types of readers.
It is a free initiative aiming to foster positive reading habits and celebrate the joy of reading during the colder months.
Whether you’re a voracious bookworm or simply looking to carve out more time for stories, the campaign offers a supportive and inspiring environment.
Participants can look forward to a range of exciting features, including the ability to set personalised reading goals and track their progress, truly tailoring the experience to their own pace and preferences. Beyond that, they can explore new literary gems and insightful reviews from knowledgeable library staff, ensuring a constant stream of fresh ideas.
And for an extra layer of excitement, there’s even the chance to enter and win prizes, adding a competitive yet fun element to the reading journey.
Patrick Gregory, Executive Director of Libraries Tasmania, expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign, highlighting its perfect alignment with the season.
“Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a good book,” said Gregory.
“The Warm Winter Read is about making space for reading in our daily lives and connecting with others through stories and a shared love of reading.”
The campaign emphasises accessibility and simplicity.
“Readers can join online or by visiting their local library. Participation is free, and there are no set rules – just read what you love, when you can,” Gregory added.
