Early surge in pre-poll voting for 2025 State election

As the first week of early voting draws to a close, more than 37,500 electors have participated in early voting processes for the state election.

By the end of Thursday, 16,817 electors had already voted at a pre-poll centre. This compares to 7,650 in 2024. Figures for each division are as follows:

Bass: 2,745
Braddon: 4,001
Clark: 3,873
Franklin: 3,099
Lyons: 3,099

Almost 21,000 postal ballot packs have been delivered to electors who are unable to attend a polling place.

Time is running out to apply for a postal vote

Electors intending to vote by post need to act now to ensure the TEC receives their applicationbefore 4 pm on Friday 11 July.

Application forms are available to download from the TEC website and can be returned by email. Forms can be mailed out upon request, but electors should consider postal timeframes as the deadline approaches.

Telephone voting is recommended for electors who are interstate or overseas during the polling period. Electors who have a print disability are also eligible to vote by phone.

The telephone voting service will open from 11 am to 5:30 pm on Monday 7 July, then 8:30 am to 5:30 pm weekdays, and until 6 pm on Friday 18 July.

On polling day, Saturday 19 July, phone lines will be open from 8 am to 6 pm.

Election night tally room tradition continues

The TEC will once again host a tally room on polling night, in the Federation Ballroom at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, in Hobart. This event will be open to the public. Further details will be available in the coming weeks.

New translated resources for electors

To support electors when casting their vote, the TEC has developed a simple guide with translations in seven languages. A guide to voting in this state election will help electors understand the process of marking their name off the roll and how to number their ballot paper correctly.

These new resources are available on the TEC website and via a QR code in every pre-poll location and polling place on polling day.
