Mark Pooley has written several articles for TT on the stadium issue. Among other things he has called for a referendum on the topic and has likened the situation to that of the Wrest Point Casino back in the day. What do you think of the wording? Should we have a referendum?

I vote ‘No’, simply because it won’t help if Liberal-Labor can just dismiss or ignore all independent expert cost-benefits analysis to continue doubling down on a bad plan. The failure here is corrupt and bad governance, not the need for a referendum.
To Rockcliffe and Winter – we want our democracy back, and we reject you both for ditching the checks and balances on what constitutes good or poor infrastructure development. You’re supposed to be working for us in a representative democracy, not running a Trumpian banana republic for the benefit of yourselves and your gambling industry-AFL cronies.
