Hobart Steps Up to Take on Pancreatic Cancer at Pankind’s Put Your Foot Down Walk
Pankind’s Put Your Foot Down Hobart Walk is set to bring the community together in the fight against pancreatic cancer at Simmons Park, Lindisfarne.
This annual event, proudly hosted by Pankind, Pancreatic Cancer Australia, raises awareness and much-needed funds for vital research.
Among those leading the charge is Hobart local Belinda Price, a dedicated nurse whose family has been deeply impacted by the disease. Price lost her father to pancreatic cancer in August 2024, just as he had lost his own father years before.
“My father and I had such a bond – the hole in my heart will never be gone,” Belinda said. “As a nurse, the reality of how aggressive and fatal this type of cancer is – with such subtle symptoms and no screening tests – has terrified me into needing to do something about it.”
The Put Your Foot Down campaign unites communities across Australia to take a stand against pancreatic cancer. With one of the lowest survival rates of any major cancer, and no early detection test available, Pankind is committed to funding groundbreaking research, advocacy and patient support.
This year’s Hobart Walk will be a powerful show of strength, solidarity and hope. Participants will pull on their best purple outfits and step out to honour those impacted, raise awareness and drive crucial funding toward better treatment options and early detection methods.
