The photograph above, taken in 1947, shows Tasmania’s highest mountain: Mount Ossa.

People initially believed Cradle Mountain was the tallest in Tasmania, but an aerial survey of Mount Ossa in the mid-twentieth century revealed that this was not actually the case.
