After 13 years the Bellerive Oval will no longer be ‘Blundstone Arena’. Cricket Tasmania and Blundstone Australia made the announcement today.
Another well-known business in Tasmania set to take on the naming rights sponsorship of Bellerive Oval.
Bellerive Oval first rebranded a in October 2011, when a groundbreaking deal made it the first Australian international cricket ground to offer naming rights for its venue.
Cricket Tasmania say that the sponsorship supported CT to provide the local community access to the game through grassroots programs for junior and school groups all around the state.
The original naming rights agreement between Blundstone and Cricket Tasmania was for five years before being extended for a further five and then another subsequent three years in 2021, until 1 October 2024.
Cricket Tasmania CEO, Dominic Baker said Cricket Tasmania has loved working with the Tasmanian brand, who has been a strong supporter of Tasmanian cricket.
“Blundstone Arena has been synonymous with Tasmania and Tasmanian cricket, and there have been some tremendous memories,” he said.
“13 seasons worth of Hobart Hurricanes wins and Blundstone’s involvement since the W/BBL’s inception, Tasmanian Tigers trophies in the Sheffield Shield, and more recently in the Women’s National Cricket League, international cricket matches including the pinnacle of world cricket, the Ashes in 2021 which was shared to 240 million televisions worldwide, and AFL content.
“Sport can bring a state or nation together, and Blundstone Arena provided countless Tasmanians with the opportunity to support their local, state and national teams.
“We would like to thank Blundstone for their commitment to Tasmanian cricket and are excited for what comes next in the naming rights partnership at Bellerive Oval,” stated Baker.
For Blundstone, the naming rights agreement was a tangible opportunity to support the Tasmanian community and facilitate access to sporting programs for all levels.
“We’re very proud of our partnership with Cricket Tasmania and grateful to have supported our state’s love of cricket and sport and to have enabled thousands of young Tasmanians to further their skills,” said Blundstone Australia joint CEO Adam Blake.
“It’s been a really positive partnership with Cricket Tasmania, we have always believed businesses should be active contributors to their community, and we are proud that our inaugural Arena sponsorship has contributed to establishing a foundation for cricket and sporting events more broadly in Tasmania, for now and for future generations.
“We are pleased to be handing the bat to another locally based business to take up the opportunity to support our community through the Arena naming rights sponsorship.”
Cricket Tasmania will have an announcement about their new naming rights partner in the coming months.

The latest news regarding the Macquarie Point stadium proposal reveals the new rendering, namely obfuscation.
That image reminds me of the mushroom clouds which obliterated Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Of course the denialists who form the current Tasmanian government continue to avoid transparency, and also stadia, ferries, public servants, doctors, nurses, police, environment, homelessness, poverty, youth crime, indebtedness, extravagance, corporate welfare, education, UTAS, as well as endangered species – and so much more.
But I feel sure many Tasmanians will feel safe, secure and even possibly excited by the news that the chocolate fountain is back on the agenda, and that the $14 million grant to a wealthy developer is also on the cards.
What a compassionate government!
Welcome to Tasmania, a place where fools appear to easily rise to the top.
