Party On at the Mountain River Hall Heating Fundraiser!
On Saturday 27 April, 7-11pm, the Mountain River Hall Committee is hosting what promises to be a huge 80’s Dance Party!
Tickets are just $5/ head, including concessions – no booking required, just pay on the door (cash or card). All funds raised will go towards heating for the hall, so that this key community facility can be used by the 1,500-strong population of Mountain River, Grove and Crabtree, throughout the winter months.
We’ve assembled a playlist of all the best loved 80’s tracks from all genres and the music will be playing from 7pm. The Hall has great acoustics and well-regarded local cover band The Royal Turks is playing 80’s crowd favourites from 9pm.
Huonville food van Cantina de Valle is serving their delicious menu of Mexican-inspired dishes from 7pm. A bar will be serving a wide range of chilled soft and alcoholic drinks, plus teas and coffees. The hall will be decked in an 80’s vibe and we’ll supply mirror balls, light effects and all you’d expect from a retro dance party!
We’ll be selling raffle tickets on the night and offering a range of prizes from local businesses (thank you to those who have already pledged great gifts and experiences). We’ll also be judging the best 80’s costume or costumes, depending on whether the committee can agree!
The committee is very grateful to the Huonville Community Bendigo Bank for generously contributing to our heating fund. This donation has made a heating system feel in reach for the first time. Currently the hall – the only public facility for the three townships – is too cold for any but the most essential events (eg as a polling station) for half of the year. We’d love to offer a warm welcoming space for community to use to meet neighbours, learn, share, listen, exercise and have fun!
So come along, have dinner and drinks with us and dance the evening away, for this great community cause. Mountain River Hall is easy to find, on the left half-way up Mountain River Road, with parking either side and at the front. We look forward to seeing you!
