Call for witnesses to dangerous driving, Devonport
Police are investigating an evade in Devonport on Saturday and are calling for information from the public.
Police were notified of a silver Ford Falcon reportedly driving in a dangerous manner on the Bass Highway at Sassafras about 3pm.
The vehicle was detected a short time later, and the driver failed to stop for police on Middle Road, Devonport.
Police resources including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter were utilised during the search for the vehicle. It was later located abandoned in nearby bushland.
Police are seeking witnesses who observed or captured the vehicle driving in the greater-Devonport area, or anyone who may be able assist with our investigation.

Police investigating series of cigarette burglaries
Police are investigating reports of several business burglaries involving the theft of cigarettes in the eastern suburbs of southern Tasmania.
Between October 2023 and February 2024, six business burglaries occurred in Lauderdale, Howrah, Lindisfarne and Sorell where cigarettes were specifically targeted.
Police believe these burglaries are linked to the same group of individuals and are occurring overnight, whilst the businesses are closed.
The total value of stolen cigarettes is reported to be in excess of $130,000.
Police wish to hear from anyone with any information, particularly relating to anyone with large quantities of cigarettes or who are offering them for sale.
