Glenorchy nursery Stoneman’s now features a new mural by local artist Jamin. The giant artwork covers what had been a ‘customer-visible eyesore’ storage shed.

The bespoke artwork took five days to complete and features local flora and fauna including kangaroo paw, eastern spinebill, Tasmanian waratah, fagus, billy buttons, 40-spotted pardalote, Tasmanian pepperberry and even the humble honey bee.

“I can’t express enough what wonderful people the Stonemans and their centre crew are,” said Jamin. “I felt so welcome and it was joyful creating this painting.”

The owners said that small businesses have a unique opportunity to join forces with the creative talent here in Tasmania to stand out and believe that doing so is beneficial for all parties.

In their case, the mural provides a distinctive point of difference for a family business ‘just around the corner’ from corporate giant Bunnings.

The mural can be viewed at Stoneman’s Garden Centre, 94 Grove Road Glenorchy, 9-17 on weekdays and 9-16 on weekends.
