Works beginning at the Murchison Highway junction

The junction of the Murchison Highway at Bass Highway in Somerset will be closed while we complete traffic signal and road upgrades from Monday, 9 October to Monday, 18 December 2023.

We will be installing new traffic signals at the junction, line marking and completing road surface upgrades as a part of the replacement of the Cam River Bridge under the Bass Highway 10 Year Action Plan.

We will be starting works on Monday, 9 October, working between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday.

While the junction is closed for these works, road users will need to detour via Falmouth Street and Simpson Street to connect between the Bass and Murchison highways.

We will also be doing night works on the Bass Highway to install a culvert to drain water away from the highway starting on Wednesday, 11 October and finishing on Friday, 13 October 2023, weather permitting.

We will be working from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am just west of the existing Cam River Bridge on these three nights. During these work hours, the highway will be reduced to one lane and traffic controllers will direct road users safely through the area.

During these works, please keep to speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
