Welcome back viewers to Tasmania ball mania,
With highlights of aerial ping pong, banana kicks, kicks through sticks,
Players carried off to hospital, busted and concussed.
They will be days in hospital the emergency queue,
without enough doctors to fix em.
We zoom to the ball, up players’ shorts, you miss nothing,
between Cascade south and Boags north,
Controversial before it started.
A nail biting game. There’s fans without fingers.
….
McLachlan, coach for Cascade, pulled out,
Citing, no roof, no play,
Cascade captain, Rocky, tried a Morrison,
elected himself, coach, rover, fast forward, and umpire,
but forcibly denied position of umpire.
He wanted to be player, judge, and jury!
….
Barnett, a dinosaur thriving on climate change,
Protested everything, and denied every time,
due to anti protest laws.
Barnett did a dummy spit, abused the umpire,
and taken away by police.
Ferguson. Let’s say, his game didn’t gel as well as his hair.
Alexander and Tucker sat on the bench, not sure which side to be on.
Player of the match, Lambie, with eloquent sledging,
Told Rocky repeatedly, to stick it up ya bum. He didn’t!
So Lambie did ,,, no proctologist in the state to fix him,
he’s stuffed!
And the crowd went mental at the final siren,
including Rocky’s rented crowd,
With victory for Boags north,
without a roof or new stadium.

Previously unknown as Betty the devil you know, Kathleen Green was a closet writer, until the door fell off at the end of lockdown. She emerged from the closet with verbal diarrhoea, using that new skill to deter conspiracies of ravens when she is a scarecrow on a hobby farm near Deloraine.

I’m definitely on board with the No Stadium team, but is that published contribution actually a poem?
I’m sorry, but I just don’t get it.

Certainly is. Was read at the Tasmanian Poetry Slam final in Launceston last week.

Unfortunately the big Bible belt of the north west coast is the most parochial and insular part of the state, and it wants the stadium as the people there are mostly Liberal with only white Caucasian. Good on Jacqui Lambie and the Greens.
No one can ever comment adversely on Paul Keating’s piggery when in fact Rocky has a farm with sheep and cropping.
