Nature Positive Plan: better for the environment, better for business

Our response to the Independent Review of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act) is now available.

It sets out the government’s commitment to reform Australia’s environmental laws to better protect, restore and manage our unique environment.

Our response builds on the recommendations from the review. It also considers new information and opportunities, including the findings from the 2021 State of the Environment Report.

Background

An independent review of the EPBC Act is required every 10 years. The second independent review, led by Professor Graeme Samuel AC, was released in January 2021.

Professor Samuel’s review was informed by expert advice and feedback from a wide range of stakeholders. It found that the EPBC Act required significant reform.
