Dr Helen Hutchinson entered the Westpac Bank in Launceston today with three other women and staged a protest against the bank’s funding of fossil fuels.
After refusing to leave she was arrested and charged with trespass.
Under her bail conditions, she is banned from being within 10 metres of any any financial institution in Tasmania until her court date 1 February 2023.
The 80-year-old is also excluded from the Launceston CBD during daytime.
Hutchinson said she is still determined to hold banks to account for funding fossil fuels & stoking climate disaster, as recommended by IPCC, World Bank and World Economic Forum.
