BREAK O’DAY: 3/10. Generic. Derivative. Could be anywhere with hills.

BRIGHTON: 7/10. Maybe there’s something going on here? Nice font. Nice blocky shapes. Bit 1970s UK nationalised industry.

BURNIE: 2/10. You’re in Bass Strait, stop trying to be the Gold Coast.

CENTRAL COAST COUNCIL: 1/10. Generic Microsoft Word logo.
CENTRAL HIGHLANDS COUNCIL: 9/10. Very good. Very allegorical. Could be the cover for a children’s book.

CIRCULAR HEAD COUNCIL: 6/10. Okay art. Not quite so generic. Let down by poor font choice and recycling-bin circle.

CLARENCE CITY: 5/10. Too much sun for a city in Tasmania. Traditional arms is a bit nice.

DERWENT VALLEY: 3/10. As logos go, this is certainly one of them.

DEVONPORT: 8/10. Lighthouse? Good symbol. They’ve probably got them. Nice font. Consistent.

DORSET: 6/10. Stylish enough but really looks like it belongs on a company which sells ugly chairs for $5000.

FLINDERS COUNCIL: 8/10. Modest. Serious. Probably looks like Flinders Island (?). Geography reference is useful I guess.
GEORGE TOWN COUNCIL: 3/10. Too detailed. Not really a logo. Wrong shape. Bad font.

GLAMORGAN SPRING BAY: 5/10. Solid meh. Colour’s nice.

GLENORCHY: 2/10. Mix-up at the graphic designers’.

HOBART: 6/10. Oh wow that’s really clever, because it’s the letter H, like Hobart. Really inspired. Good stuff. Use of two fonts kinda works.

HUON VALLEY: 7/10. Good concept let down a bit by the execution. Apples are always a drawcard though these look a bit like pumpkins. Font doesn’t match the art.

KENTISH: 5/10. Text is off-centre. Mountains and water, very original. Pink works but.
KING ISLAND: 10/10. Very good. Coat of arms and everything. Nice clean font.

KINGSBOROUGH: 2/10. Go with the coat of arms or the modern logo. This sucks.
LATROBE: 2/10. Probably cheap to make?
LAUNCESTON: 4/10. Putting an extinct species on your logo is just in poor taste. Disappointing for tourists also. I guess if the thylacine was still around it would be ok.
MEANDER VALLEY: 4/10. Yeah you’ve got mountains. We get it.

NORTHERN MIDLANDS: 8/10. Some work went into this. History. A real sense of place. Kerning’s putting me off.
SORRELL COUNCIL: 7/10. It’s not mountains. Did someone from Sorrell invent the plow? Probably not. But full marks for effort. It’s ugly but they all are really.

SOUTHERN MIDLANDS: 2/10. Sucks. Could be anywhere. More fucking mountains.
TASMAN: 8/10. Good! Bit of history. Looks like a sign outside one of those lolly shops that sells mints shaped like penises. But if you set that aside it works.
WARATAH WYNYARD: 6/10. I guess it’s okay? They’ve at least tried to make it like the place. “Diversity In Abundance” doesn’t make sense but we’re not here to judge mottoes.
WEST COAST: 8/10. Some tools. Some flowers. Some sea. Bit of everything here. Good mix. No mountains.
WEST TAMAR: 7/10. It’s ugly, yes. But it’s creative in its ugliness. Three separate fonts. Slightly different shades of orange, one that looks like poop. It’s high grade trash.
