Greens strong and ready for local government elections

The Tasmanian Greens will field their biggest ever team of candidates for this month’s local government elections.

Comments from Tasmanian Greens Leader Cassy O’Connor MP:
“With 24 candidates contesting seats in 15 local government areas, this is the biggest and strongest Greens field in the state’s history.”

“When people cast their ballots in the next few weeks, they can be assured the Greens’ candidates will be fighting for climate action, affordable housing and integrity.”

“The Greens cannot be bought and we won’t sell out.”

Comments from Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson:
“We saw at the recent state and federal elections that the Greens are on the rise across Tasmania and across Australia.”

“People can have faith that their Greens local government will build and expand the work that’s happening all over the country to build a fairer society and safe climate.”

Comments from Greens Senator Nick McKim:
“Putting more Greens in local government leads to outcomes – it means action on the housing crisis, and real outcomes for the climate and environment that sustains us all.”

“This is a diverse and fantastic group, and they are ready to ride a green wave.”
