Kreglinger Wine Estates yesterday announced that their Kreglinger Brut Rosé 2017 had been recognised as Australia’s Best Sparkling Rosé at the Halliday Wine Companion awards held on 3 August at the Stokehouse restaurant in St Kilda, Melbourne.

The awards recognise the best wineries, viticulturists winemakers and wine by varietals across Australia annually with the panel of eight judges nominating candidates from their respective regions for 18 awards categories. Each category is awarded through a collaborative process of hundreds of hours of tasting followed by round table discussions and then announced at the awards event which was also broadcast online.

Kreglinger Sparkling is grown and crafted by Tasmanian-owned Pipers Brook Vineyard who have been producing cool climate estate-grown and crafted table wines and traditional method sparkling wines since 1974. Today under the Kreglinger Wine Estates banner they are known for not only Pipers Brook Estate wines and the Kreglinger Sparkling house but also the Ninth Island label and more recently released Pipers Tasmania wines.

“Our vintage Kreglinger Sparkling wines come from a single vineyard site which every year produces wines that inspire us,” said Chief Winemaker Luke Whittle.

“Crafting these wines in the Kreglinger house style we strive to achieve the best expression of this exceptional site – wines which speak of the Pipers River region, with their own distinctive personality.

“Traditional method sparkling takes patience, so we’re thrilled to finally be able to share these wines and really humbled to have our 2017 Kreglinger Rosé recognized with such a prestigious award.”

This award joins a growing list gained by the Pipers Brook Vineyard portfolio, the result of years of continued vineyard improvements and a small team of skilled and passionate individual led by Chief Winemaker Luke Whittle and Viticulturist Luciano Caravia.
