In February I posted this dilemma: WarWyn Council Creativity? Or Just a Cleese Moment? – Tasmanian Times,

The dilemma has been resolved, and wonderfully so might I add.

Last week we were blessed with a surprise visit by the new owner Lou Shackleton, a restuarant worker from Sydney, who appeared out of nowhere.

After extensive discussion with some friendly locals, she has agreed the nursery could be revitalised as a community operation. This would be a fantastic initiative and she has already done some extensive rehabilitation as you can see in the images below.

Lou will be back in February 2023 and is planning to install a one room ‘tiny house’ on the property at the right time, with Council approval, which she plans to use for her retirement in about 4 to 5 years’ time.

How lucky is Waratah to have this lady as a landowner and future resident!

If you have any ideas about how the community garden concept might progress, or indeed experience in a community garden setting, please get in touch.

As Basil Fawlty might have said, “Manuel, get me a gnome!”
