Convergence on the 42nd Parallel is Nic D’Alessandro’s debut novel.

The front cover of Convergence on the 42nd Parallel.
It tells the story of a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and a North-Korean/Chinese spy. Their parallel destinies collide when a new U.S. Navy aircraft carrier visits Hobart.
The novel focusses terrorism, espionage, secrecy, politics, family, and friendship.
It is engaging, suspenseful, informative, action-packed, and very much driven by the characters. The dialogue is convincing, but it can be wooden at times.
Vehicles, ships, aircraft, machines, and equipment, as well as navy procedures and manoeuvres are described in detail. The characters, on the other hand, are not given a lot of description. I therefore had a hard time imagining what they looked like.
But, despite its flaws, Convergence on the 42nd Parallel is a good read. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I recommend it to people who enjoy reading crime and spy novels.
