Lyell Highway road rebuilding works
The Department of State Growth is rebuilding a section of the Lyell Highway, south of Tarraleah.
The Lyell Highway is a vital link to and from the west coast, connecting major industry sectors such as tourism and mining with Hobart.
This essential maintenance will provide a stronger, longer lasting, and safer road for all road users travelling to and from the west coast.
We started work on Monday, 8 November, and will finish in March 2022, weather and other conditions permitting.
We will be working from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. During these times there will be temporary traffic changes to ensure everyone’s safety, including reduced speed limits and single lane closures.
Road users should allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time throughout the works.
Please keep to the posted speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs for your safety and the safety of our roadworkers.
