Statement – Chris Lynch, Labor Candidate for Braddon, 5 July 2021
I’m excited to share with you I’m running as Labor’s Candidate for Braddon as part of Anthony Albanese’s team.
I moved to the north-west coast from Hobart when I was in primary school, my childhood was spent at Cooee Beach, it didn’t matter if it was summer or winter. The sound of the Tasman Limited coming through was my cue to go home for tea.
Sadly, now too many of our young people are forced to leave the north-west coast to find work. I know we need more decent, well paying jobs so everyone can live, work and raise a family right here in Braddon.
Through my work I’ve seen how important removing the barriers faced by some in our community is, so that no one is held back or left behind.
As an active member of the Burnie City Council since 2014 and my involvement in a number of school associations and neighbourhood houses I’m passionate about helping empower the north-west community particularly improving education, youth, disability and the arts.
The people of the north-west coast and west coast deserve a fair go but that’s not what they’re getting from the Liberals. The Liberals have been busy cutting Medicare rebates and making it harder for Tasmanian families to access a GP. I know when it comes to protecting the health of Tasmanian families, the Liberals always cost you more.
I look forward to working to make Braddon a better place for people to work, live and thrive and I hope you will join me on this journey.

Welcoming Chris Lynch As Labor’s Candidate For Braddon
It is with great pleasure that we welcome local councillor Chris Lynch as the endorsed Labor candidate for the electorate of Braddon at the next federal election.

He has lived and worked for most of his life in north-west Tasmania, in the areas of education, youth, disability and the arts.
Quotes attributable to Anthony Albanese, Leader of the Australian Labor Party:
“This is a tired, out-of-touch and out-of-ideas government who will be asking the people of Australia for more than a decade in power at the next election. Australians, and especially the people of Braddon, deserve better.”
“Chris is exactly the type of candidate I want to represent the people of north-west Tasmania – he’s local, he’s got a long history of serving the community and he cares about the issues that matter.”
