Australian landscape photographer Scott Leggo has announced his new coffee table book Australia- A photographic journey will be printed later this year.
This hard cover coffee table book, with 224 pages showcases the wonder and beauty of Australia with approximately 200 selected photographs including many from Tasmania.
“An aspect I truly love about Tasmania is that so many great wilderness locations are easily accessible,” said Leggo. “As the camera clicked on the images I’ve included in the book, I hoped that the resultant photos would truly convey how I felt at the time – being able to leave aside everyday pressures and enjoy a small Tasmanian escape.”
A regular visitor to the island, Leggo said there is a ‘special grandeur and beauty’ about Tasmania.
“With so many impressive scenes across Tasmania’s wilderness areas, I sought to include in the book photos that show it is a state of dramatic mountain peaks, beautiful rainforests, deep river valleys and spectacular beaches.”
He noted that Tasmania also provides a dramatic contract with other areas on mainland Australia.
“This book, while only a small window if you like, really does show the breadth of scenery we have across the Great Southern Land,” Leggo said. “Exploring these locations enables me to slow down and reconnect to the natural world and appreciate the beauty that is all around us. It has also shown me that we can do more to protect these places.”
Leggo said he has travelled the length and breadth of Australia to compile this collection of landscape photographs. From the highest mountains in the Australian Alps, covered in deep snow through winter, to the harsh, dry deserts of central Australia, the photographs represent over 15 years of photographing the continent.
“Travelling and exploring these locations has been a powerful way for me to reconnect to the natural world and appreciate the beauty that is all around us. I can’t wait to share this book with others. Each photograph is ultimately a record of an event or an experience that has formed part of my story of Australian photographic exploration.”
