young achiever – nominate a person under 29 as Young Achiever in one of ten categories. It’s a good way to provide some recognition to those who contribute to our community. Nominating is free and can be done using the online form. Nominations close on 14 January 2020.

rubbish collections – with Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day all falling mid-week this year, there may be some changes to waste collection arrangements. Please check with your local council.

LGH master plan – the government is now commencing a comprehensive public consultation process to complete the final three stages of the Launceston General Hospital master plan. This includes clinical services planning, also consideration of both the main LGH campus and facilities in the surrounding precinct. Submissions information here. Submissions are open until 14 February 2020.

donate blood – if you have a bit of time on your hands over the holidays, it might be a good time to donate blood. The claret stuff is always useful so roll up your sleeves and get down to your nearest donation centre. Here’s where to go and the page also specifies opening times over the coming weeks.
