Hobart’s CBD is set to gain a taste of New Orleans with Shotgun Coffee set to open its doors in
Murray St on April 16th. Award winning artist Peter Gouldthorpe has painted a bespoke 15
meter long trompe l’oeil mural that runs the length of the shop. Local blacksmith Pete Mattila
has created metalwork that is truly unique and wild, inspired by the French Quarter in New
Orleans. Local artist David Fooks has also worked with the team to create moments directly
inspired by the shotgun style of architecture famous in New Orleans.
Cafe Manager Kirilly Crawford says the team are excited to be working with many local
businesses on the new venture; including Udderly Tasmanian Milk, Straight Up Gluten Free
Bakers and Zimmah Coffee “We have partnered with local legends Zimmah Coffee because we
want to work with like-minded businesses and people who have the same ethos as us;
sustainability and authenticity are at the forefront of everything we do.”
The breakfast and lunch menu will appeal to those in the CBD who are looking for a great lunch
in Hobart. The range of rolls and sweets are inspired by Louisiana style po’boys and beignets
with some classic Aussie flavors also added to the menu.
