On the 25th anniversary of the Falls Festival and the 15th year of the Marion Bay event, the team behind Falls are getting set to put on one of their biggest shows to date! With a huge national line-up already announced including Flume, Fleet Foxes, Run The Jewels, Glass Animals, Angus & Julia Stone, Liam Gallagher and heaps more, the Foster A Band competition has opened! One local Tassie act will have the chance to share the same stage as some of the biggest international and national artists this New Year’s Eve, who that will be is up to you – the voting public.
Falls is giving emerging Tasmanian acts the chance to play in front of thousands of people from across the country! Teaming up with their local print media buddies to foster the best up-and-comers Tassie has to offer, and we’re asking the readers to pick their fave. Voting will be open for the month of October at the Marion Bay festival website. The top artist pulling in the most love will secure a paid slot on the official 2017 Marion Bay line-up! SLOW DESCENT FOSTERED BY THE ADVOCATE
Slow Descent was properly formed in 2013 during a weekend binge of alcohol, parmies and progressive metal. A strange breeding ground for what was to come, but not so strange if you listen closely. On the surface the music is punk as influenced by SoCal veterans, modern pop punk and pop. If you have a look underneath though, you can’t miss the signature of the longtime metalheads that the band are.

HURRICANE YOUTH FOSTERED BY THE EXAMINER
Hurricane Youth are a Punk/Rock 4-piece band from Launceston. The band started in July 2016 as a 3-piece, springing from the solo project of Trent Buchanan. Now a 4-piece, the band are heading off on tour to support their yet to be release single ‘Hurricane’ from their upcoming Album Grow. This follows their 2017 Debut EP ‘A Change In Weather’. They’ve already supported bands such as The Hard Aches, Polish Club and Slowly Slowly, just continuing their local rise.

THE SURREAL ESTATE AGENTS FOSTERED BY THE MERCURY
The energetic and playful nature of The Surreal Estate Agents makes for an entertaining one of a kind live performance. Each member of the band brings an individual personality, playing technique, ability and stage presence making a truly unique viewing and listening experience. Their sound has a strong driving rhythm section combined with classic rock styled chord progressions and overtones which all tied together with poetic lyricism and funky grooves.
