After registering the Australian Space Party as a business name, Kim Peart has decided to run in the Tasmanian seat of Lyons in the upcoming State election.
When we have attracted 500 members, then we can apply for the Australian Space Party to be an official national political party.
In pursuit of this quest, Kim will be flying to Adelaide in a couple of weeks to attend the International Space Congress, which is attracting thousands of astronauts and space scientists from around the World ~

Kim will be watching out for opportunities for Tasmania to participate in the global space industry, creating employment and careers, and inspiring students in STEM subjects.
As director of Space Pioneers, Kim will be keen to see what is happening with space pioneering ~

Kim’s focus has been in developing ways to explore space via virtual worlds, including Second Life, where weekly International meetings are held in a space station that Kim built.
One unique feature of Kim’s campaign, will be to have a virtual world gallery, which interested people will be able to explore via avatars.
This will be like a 4-dimensional interactive website.
Kim will be able to meet anyone in the virtual world space, via avatars, without them having to travel long distances.
As a visual artist, Kim will be going to towns far and wide to make a painting in a town, political statements on the campaign trail, where folk can also meet Kim at work.
This weekend Kim will be attending a two-day alpaca workshop in Sorell, with the Australian Alpaca Association, to learn more about alpacas.
This will be at the Sorell School Farm, where there is an event open to the general public on the Sunday ~

Kim is particularly concerned about warnings from climate scientists, that all may not be well with out future.
The recent New York magazine article by David Wallace-Wells ~ An Uninhabitable Earth ~ send a shock wave around the world ~

Included in that article was discussion about the Great Filter theory, which is part of Fermi’s Paradox, which predicts alien civilisations, which there is no sign of, anywhere beyond Earth, may all have met a sad demise ~

And also here ~

The Great Filter theory hints at an event in our future that will cause us strife, and we may not see the other side of.
What that event is can be open to speculation, but many scientific fingers are now pointing at climate change.
Academic Guy McPherson sounds very credible, but also quite disturbing, when he suggests that we have a decade, at best ~

How big a chance should we take?
Kim suggests that we have used up too many chances already.
Kim believes and strongly advocates that Australia must engage in serious space development, without delay.
We need to build solar power stations in space, establish industry beyond Earth and build orbital space cities among the stars ~
https://settlement.arc.nasa.gov/Kalpana/KalpanaOne.html
and ~
All this has been possible since the 1970s, but pumping oil and driving wars has dominated humans for too long.
Now we have a nuclear weapons crisis with North Korea.
In space we can create land with orbital space settlements.
Australia could create ten times the land area in space than we have on Earth.
We could create land for North Korea in space, and this would defuse the crisis on Earth.
Just planning for this future could defuse the North Korean atomic crisis.
Through development in space, we can build peace on Earth.
Every politician and political candidate, at every level of government, need to reflect on space, and how they can help solve human problems on Earth.
Kim takes heart from the fact that Winston Churchill was his age when he became Prime Minister of Great Britain, served two terms as Prime Minister, and didn’t retire from politics until well into his 80s.
Faced with multiple crisis in our age, we need more elders and their wisdom to help lead into a new era of Earth health and human peace.
One of the leading scientists involved in developing the space settlement vision, Gerard K. O’Neill, once said ~ “Almost anything can be done in a ten year period, when we set our minds to it.” ~
Faced with multiple crises on Earth, Kim fears that if we do not secure a sustainable presence in space within a decade, we may lose our chances, and prove the Great Filter theory entirely correct.
Why would we dither until it is too late?
Kim is determined to clear-fell all dithering and carve a way into space.
Kim is planning for his 77th birthday party to be held in an orbital space city in 2029.
A critical number of people rising to the challenge to share this party, will not only receive a slice of celestial birthday cake, but will be investing in our cosmic survival.
We have to do this.
Who will join the party?
The business card Kim will be taking to Adelaide ~
A recently published letter by Kim, which refers to a solution to poverty and homelessness, which Kim sees working on Earth and in space with a stellar economy, built on the power of the Sun harvested in space. ~ We could solve all our problems in Australia, if we had a mind to, but to fix all problems globally, can only happen with space development and a stellar economy. ~
Dear Editor,
Could the housing affordability crisis, predicted by the Committee for Economic Development of Australia to torture the nation for 40 years, be solved in 4 years?
For this to happen, an entirely new breed of political cat will need to be elected into parliament, rather than eternally voting in the cause of the strife.
The 40 years in the wilderness prophecy will be the Aussie reality, unless the economic gears are shifted to a Fair Go for all citizens.
There is a simple way to fix the problem and create a better future for this nation.
We can introduce an employment guarantee, where the government provides work with a set minimum wage.
This will create real full employment for all citizens, and herald an end to over-work by those in work, under-employment, poverty and homelessness.
An employment guarantee will solve the housing crisis, because workers need homes.
This will increase the productivity of the nation, because everyone will be working, with a real wage, and more taxes will get paid.
We will need to ensure that the miners and multinationals are paying their way, and we will need to cut back on generous government handouts to the wealthy, to create a fair society.
We will save heaps from shrinking Centrelink, dispensing with the job network, and eliminating scam training colleges, along with their reason to exist.
An employment guarantee will force private enterprise to compete for workers, and pay at least the minimum wage, to keep workers.
Government employment can shrink, as private enterprise creates work.
Do we want to create work, and solve the housing crisis?
If we do, we will make this nation work.
Yours sincerely,
Kim Peart
