Sustainable Australia: National Newsletter …
Dear Friend …
Monthly meet ups
We’re ramping up our monthly social meet ups across Australia, on the first Sunday of every month.
Members are invited to host a simple event in your local networking group. Click here for current cities, suburbs and towns.
It’s simply a opportunity to socialise with like-minded members and supporters. Free party flyers and stickers will be available.
If interested to host, or share the monthly hosting duties in a current local networking area, please contact us with your proposed venue (café, pub, bowling club, etc with plenty of space on a Sunday afternoon!). We’ll outline the simple requirements and add it to the list.
AEC Eligibility Review
We’ve been working hard since early June on our Australian Electoral Commission eligibility review.
This is a major administrative task for our office. We take that view that we should contact all members and update/confirm everyone’s details before lodging our list of 500 (plus 50 for safety’s sake) is lodged later this month, so that we leave nothing to chance.
Thanks to our national committee member Susan Bowes for taking annual leave and coming up from Tasmania for a week’s ‘holiday’ to Sydney. I’m not sure about you, but a 60 hour week volunteering in party HQ is not my idea of a break from work!
Final Call
If you’re a member and haven’t updated/confirmed your current contact details, or if you are unsure, please reply to this email.
Otherwise, non-members can join today to help us register State parties in NSW, VIC and TAS in 2017.
Game of Mates
Queensland economist and author Dr Cameron Murray will be in Sydney next week. We’ve taken the opportunity to put together a special social event where Cameron will talk about his new book Game of Mates.
When: 6-8pm, Tuesday 18 July
Where: Crows Nest Hotel, NSW
Please RSVP: CLICK HERE: http://www.sustainableaustralia.org.au/sustainableaustralia/sustainable_australia_presents_game_of_mates?utm_campaign=monthly_meetups&utm_medium=email&utm_source=votesustainable
Cameron is also a key contributor at Macro Business. Their chief economist Leith van Onselen was on Sky News this week with a refreshingly independent analysis of the economic impacts of Australia’s high immigration intake.
It compliments a similar interview by CBA senior economist Gareth Aird on 2GB radio.
If you take a big interest in the economy as I do, and you’re not subscribed to Macro Business, I recommend you take out a free trial. We need strong independent media in Australia and Macro Business is one publication that fits the bill.
Kind regards
William Bourke
