Four Years Too Long Vigil in Launceston tonight
Locals will be gathering in City Park at 6pm tonight to commemorate and lament the fourth anniversary of the use of off-shore detention by Australia.
Many Australians are deeply concerned that our nation is violating the basic human rights of very vulnerable people for domestic political purposes. The vigil is part of a nation-wide movement with events in every major city.
Meeting at the western end of the park near the monkey enclosure, the vigil will last approximately 30 minutes. Everyone is encouraged to bring a candle and matches, and to wear warm clothes. Organisations are invited to bring their banners.
If the weather is damp – we will hold a vigil/wake in the Royal Oak (downstairs) from 6pm.
