Anti-TasWater takeover campaign running out of puff, resorting to personal attacks
Yesterday’s Hitler slur on the Premier by a Brighton Councillor is a sign that the anti-TasWater takeover campaign is running out of puff.
The Mayor has failed to condemn the remarks, which reflects poorly on the entire Brighton Council.
Unfortunately, it is also the latest in a series of personal attacks from the Brighton Council and Mayor Foster, through the Council’s publication, the “Brighton Community News”, which has variously called the Treasurer a “nitwit”, “cunning”, and compared him to Donald Trump.*
These personal attacks demonstrate that the anti-takeover campaign has no substantive arguments to make against our Plan to take control of TasWater, which is all about delivering better water and sewerage infrastructure faster, and cheaper.
Soon, we will be releasing the draft legislation to take control of TasWater and it will be even clearer for all to see how our Plan will operate.
I call on the Brighton Mayor to show leadership, call off the personal attacks, and debate the TasWater takeover on its merits.
