Labor in Step with Liberals on Cable Car

Posted on

Labor Leader, Rebecca White, has confirmed her party supports the construction of a cable car on kunanyi/Mt Wellington.*

Again, the Liberals and Labor are together working against the environment.

Yesterday, Labor voted in support of the Liberals on fish farms, today it’s the mountain.

Both parties want to scar Hobart’s beautiful mountain back drop and compromise the natural values that set Tasmania apart from everywhere else.

The question is, will Labor support Matthew Groom’s legislation to compulsorily acquire the pinnacle site to enable this development?

It was good to see Ms White join the Aboriginal community, the Greens and Lord Mayor, Sue Hickey, in pushing to change the date of Australia Day out of respect for the first people.

To Aboriginal Tasmanians, kunanyi is a sacred place. They do not support its desecration.
