The Premier should condemn Treasurer Peter Gutwein for his spiteful personal attack on TasWater chair Miles Hampton in Parliament this morning.

Shadow Minister for Local Government Madeleine Ogilvie said the Premier needs to step in.

“Will Hodgman needs to bring his Treasurer under control,” Ms Ogilvie said.

“Peter Gutwein’s spiteful attack on Miles Hampton in Parliament this morning was unbecoming of a senior minister.

“The Premier must act before an ugly situation damages Tasmania and the state’s reputation further.

“This is no way for a government to behave.

“For the Treasurer to use Question Time, under the protection of parliamentary privilege, to attack a respected community leader in this way is appalling.

“Did Will Hodgman sanction the attack or is the Treasurer running the show?”
