Labor to fund two additional ambulance crews and trucks

 Paramedics deserve additional resources

A Labor Government would respond to the pressure on Tasmania’s ambulance service by fulling funding two additional crews and two new ambulance trucks.

Labor Leader Rebecca White said existing crews are stretched to the limit.

“Labor would fully fund two additional ambulance crews, one in Launceston and one in Hobart,” Ms White said.

“We’ve consulted with paramedics who have highlighted the huge amount of overtime they are being required to work.

“Unfortunately, through no fault of the dedicated staff in the Tasmanian Ambulance Service, we have the worst response times in Australia.

“If that’s not a wake-up call for the Hodgman Government, I don’t know what is.

“Long shifts put incredible pressure on crews and make an already difficult job even harder.

“Fully funded additional crews will relieve some of the strain workers are under.

“Labor’s determined to work with frontline health workers to deliver better outcomes for patients accessing services.”
