Hi All,
Please see below a message from Nayri Niara festival organiser Ruth Langford re the up coming good spirit festival. It’s a great event that directly supports powering people and building capacity, on a spectacular island.
TWS has been invited to present an overview of the on-County collaboration on the takayna/Tarkine coast and we’re very much looking forward to sharing the progress and outcomes of that project.
If you fancy a weekend on Bruny, this looks like a good one to get behind!

A message from Ruth Langford, Founder & Artistic Director …
Dear Friends, I am calling on your support to help our Community create an amazing inclusive cultural event that shares Ancient Traditions and Contemporary Innovations.
I trust that you have all heard about the Nayri Niara good spirit Festival that will be held next weekend 21-23rd April. The Festival is hosted by Tasmanian Aboriginal Community families and brings First Nation cultural knowledge keepers from around the world to explore and connect with Indigenous, earth-based wisdoms and emergent sustainable practices. Strengthening personal relationships and encouraging cohesion between diverse communities through the expression of arts is the heartbeat of this Festival. Our First Nations knowledge keepers are joined by a broad spectrum of supporters also sharing knowledge and skills.
Because when someone purchase a ticket to Nayri Niara they are directly investing in positive Social Change and Environmental Recovery. This is a great way to personal directly invest in training opportunities for Aboriginal Community members whilst also receiving an immersive cultural experience out On Country connecting with our Mob.
Here are some of the capacity building projects their ticket pays for:
• Training of 10 Interns for Project Management in Events/Festival
• Artistic and Creative Skill develop workshops for over 20 Aboriginal community members with an outcome of creating work that they can earn an income from.
• Retention of Cultural Knowledge through supporting opportunities Elders to share/teach our youth. We have a Film Making focus so our young can archive stories/knowledge of their Elders.
Nayri Niara good spirit Festival is an incredible gathering for the whole family with a big focus ensuring our young hearts (kids) are just as emerged in exciting activities as the older hearts. With spear throwing, bush dye, Bush olympics and a film making challenge to name but a few, we really feel that this will be an great family connective experience over the school holidays.
