The third Hobart Language Day is coming!

Call for Hobart folks to celebrate language and cultural diversity.

Hobart Folks are encourage to celebrate their language and cultural diversity with different activities taking place on Sunday 23rd April 2017, 9 am-12 pm in Mather’s House, Bathurst St, Hobart in the third Hobart Language Day.

Today, in Tasmania we speak over 129 different languages that Hobart Language Day wants to celebrate joining together to share the mother tongues, traditional dresses, live music, nursery rhymes, calligraphy, free kitchen demonstration in different languages, books and more.

“We will put together languages and literature in various languages and books in general. All of this will occur in the middle of the World Book Day and English and Spanish Language Day celebrations around the world”, said Sonia Parra, organiser of the event.

“Hobart Language Day is about celebrate languages spoken in Hobart and cultural diversity that show our strong sense of community”, said Ms Parra.

The Hobart Language Day is an opportunity for everybody who speaks some language, to come and share their interest, value and taste for books and languages.

The language day has support from the Hobart Council, Tasmanian Government and Multicultural Council of Tasmania and it’s a free and family event.
