One Nation’s business model questioned after WA election failure

As the fallout continues from Pauline Hanson’s West Australian state election campaign, ugly recriminations show no sign of slowing. Amid the lawsuits, blame, and allegations that candidates were misled and exploited, Karen Middleton finds a political operation that is not what it seems.

“Pauline Hanson’s One Nation – PHON – is a business. It’s not a political party,” says Lyn Vickery, ex-president of One Nation. “Most political parties under the electoral act are supposed to be incorporated associations. This is in fact a business. And in fact it’s a pyramid business, much like Amway.”
