Annexe Theatre

Our Foundation has been working tirelessly for the protection of takayna / Tarkine. More recently we’ve had a conservation camp and tree-sit vigil in the threatened forests of the Frankland River in the Tarkine. We have also been lobbying parliamentarians in the Tasmanian parliament about the legislation that passed the lower house last week. This legislation will allow logging in 357 000 hectares of high conservation value forests in Tasmania, including forests in Launceston’s range, from the Blue Tier to the North East highlands. The legislation will also allow for logging in 100,000 hectares of rainforests in takayna / Tarkine.

We are currently preparing our annual environmental arts project in the Tarkine, when 120 artists will explore and immerse themselves in this wild, threatened place to create unique works of art – paintings, photographs, films, songs, drawings and more. So there is plenty to share with you about our campaign. We hope you can join us on 4th of April.

Can you volunteer to help with this event? We will need help with promotions, putting posters up around Launceston and help on the night.
