Parliament to acknowledge 50 year anniversary of Black Tuesday bushfires …
The Speaker of the House of Representatives will today acknowledge the 1967 Tasmanian “Black Tuesday” bushfires which killed 64 people and injured hundreds more. It’s expected that the Members of the House will rise for a minute’s silence as a sign of respect and that the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, along with Mr Wilkie whose electorate of Denison suffered terribly in the bushfires, will speak on the disaster.
