Forks, the Bill that I have mentioned in my last article ( http://oldtt.pixelkey.biz/index.php?/pr-article/a-riff-on-a-news-ltd-article-/ ) is likely to be changed in the Senate.
Much as I dislike some Senators, eg One Nation, they did support a Bill for a Senate Enquiry into the Centrelink Debt disaster. I have written a letter or email draft that you can edit and send separately to the minor party Senators and Labor.
The Hon Leader of the Australian Labor Party

For whom neither he nor any other Labor representative has done anything
In fact cutting money to Maribrnong’s schools, roads and The Western Hospital
Which Labor is starving of money and strangling

Dear [first name of politician – eg Nick]
OPPOSITION TO WELFARE ‘REFORMS’ [in Bold]
Thank you for your support of an inquiry into the Centrelink Debt disaster.
I read today that the government is to introduce a Bill that cuts Newstart payments to people aged 22-25.
It is a long tradition in Australia and all Western countries that people are considered adults when they turn 18, or at the most, 21. It is a disgrace that by this Bill, they are classified as teens who will be forced to live at home. While it is laudable that this Bill encourages them to study, this support for higher education is already in place as a Benefit Supplement.
[First name of politician, eg Nick], less than 27% of people this age do live at home. Moreover, at least a third of parents are solo parents, live on benefits, or are either below or close to the Poverty Line.
Other deplorable aspects of this Bill are that:
1) It cuts the time that pensioners can spend overseas from 26 weeks to 6 weeks;
2) It cuts the Electricity Supplement of $14.
I have not studied this Bill; there may be other bad aspects. Pensioners are people who have spent their lives working for Australia and benefiting the country. If they wish to have an extended holiday, they should be able to do so. The recent cut to Disability pensioners to be overseas from 3 months to 1 month is also deplorable. As for electricity, this government’s policies resulted in price increases that hit the poor, and the Supplement acknowledged that.
These cuts are yet another attack by this government on the poor, disabled, and aged. This government is still applying the unfair attitude of the Abbot first budget that eventually cost Abbott the Prime Ministership. Meanwhile, it is Coalition policy to cut tax on companies, even though these companies pay, in actuality, an average 25% tax, and many of the largest pay no tax at all. The Turnip government is trying to take money from the poorest and most vulnerable citizens, and give it to shareholders and subsidies for coal mines that are unneeded, unwanted, and unprofitable. Newstart and Pensions have not been increased for many years, although the Indexing helps, and an increase is still badly needed. Newstart is already well below the poverty line. Australian citizens are among the lowest-paid in Western countries.
[First name of politician, eg Nick], you have always stood up for the most vulnerable citizens. You know that the Turnbull and Abbott Coalition Government has made continual attacks on the poor, the disabled, the needy, pensioners – Aussie Battlers. I hope that you will oppose and amend this disgraceful legislation and send it back to the Lower House.
Once again, I thank you for protecting the poor and vulnerable. This work that you have achieved will always stand as an example of compassion and fair Government.
Thanking you once again for your support;
Yours sincerely,
