Hobart Lord Mayor backs State Government TasWater takeover
The head of the Hobart City Council has thrown her personal support behind the State Government’s plan to seize control of TasWater, despite concerns about the loss of dividends.
Tasmania’s councils jointly own TasWater — responsible for the state’s water and sewerage system — which is struggling to supply safe water in some parts of the state.
During the week the Local Government Minister announced taking control from local councils was under “active consideration”.
