All signs point to early election as Liberals try to wake from their slumber

 Flurry of announcements and spin after three years of inaction from the Hodgman Government
 Early election on the cards as Liberals lay the groundwork
 Announcements all big on conflict, short of detail

Labor Leader Bryan Green said all signs point to an early state election as the Hodgman Government frantically tries to wake from its slumber.

“After three years of doing nothing, the Liberals have suddenly decided they need to at least pretend to be doing something,” Mr Green said.

“It’s been a bizarre week from the Government as its tried to start a war with local councils and revive projects it’s been sitting on for years.

“All signs point to an early election and the Liberals are scrambling for relevance.

“The flurry of activity and announcements in the last week only highlights how little the Government has achieved in the last three years.

“The Liberals have had three years to improve water and sewerage infrastructure but suddenly the Treasurer now thinks it’s time to pick a fight with local government.

“The Premier has had three years to progress a cable car project but has done nothing more than talk about it.

“Tasmanians are smart enough to realise that the Government is trying to lay the groundwork for an early election.

“No amount of grandstanding and spin will disguise the fact that the Hodgman Government has done nothing for the last three years.”
