Shooters and Fishers Party Tasmania calls for the immediate dismissal of Federal Minister Susan Leys

Posted on

Minister Leys has just recently overseen the dismantling of rural primary Health services across rural Australia and in particular, Rural Tasmania.

Areas such as Kentish, Central Highlands, Southern Midlands, Bruny Island and Glen Morgan Spring Bay have had health services such as podiatry, chiropractic, family support workers, health promotion officers, and mental health services removed from rural and remote Tasmania.

There has been NO clear plan to replace these services in rural Tasmania around the State.
Rural communities have been treated with contempt by this Minister who has no understanding of the real needs of rural Tasmania and the vital role that these Rural Health Services played in the social well-being and preventive health initiatives.

Rural communities , who are more likely to have no or limited public transport, are now faced with the prospect of trying to source needed services from major centres , who generally have NO footprint in rural Tasmania or worse they are no able to seek support at all.

The Minister obviously has NO understanding of the role these services played in connecting their respective community members to other services such as medical, welfare, health and social interaction which is vital in rural and remote Tasmania.

All this was implemented under the banner of providing better services for less money.

The Minister’s obvious lack of understanding is demonstrated by her poor judgement now disclosed by her disgraceful use of the public purse for her own benefit; on multiple occasions.

She has shown to be incompetent at worse and indifferent to the rural community at best.

The continued abuse of office by State and Federal politicians should not be condoned by the Australian public. The reimbursement of expense’s simply not good enough.

Simply these transgressions should NEVER have occurred in the first place.

It demonstrates the contempt the general public are held by some members of major political parties who appear to take the view that they have nothing to fear from the voting public as there is little choice at the ballot box. SFP party Tasmania will provide that choice.

Minister Leys should not be disciplined by the Prime Minister…… she must be dismissed as Minister immediately.

Additionally a truly independent body is required to oversee these blatant abuses of public office and provide a continued monitoring role.
