Deloitte report highlights full-time employment crisis
Deloitte Access Economics report confirms full-time jobs are disappearing
Massive shift from full-time to part-time work in Tasmania
4600 full-time jobs lost since April last year
Labor Leader Bryan Green said the latest Deloitte Access Economics report has confirmed what Labor has been saying for the past few months.
“Tasmania’s in the midst of a crisis when it comes to full-time jobs,” Mr Green said.
“The Deloitte Access Economics report spells it out in clear terms for the Hodgman Government.
“We’ve lost 4600 full-time jobs since April last year as we’ve seen a massive shift towards part-time work.
“The report makes the point that “If you divide the overall job numbers into full-timers and part-timers there are now fewer full-timers than there were back in 2011.”
“It’s time the Government fronted up to the fact that we are losing full-time jobs at an alarming rate.
“Last month we lost 600 full-time positions and we heard nothing from the Premier or Treasurer.
“Until the Government is prepared to address the trend, it won’t be in a position to do anything about it.
“Labor has a series of positive economic policies to create employment, especially in regional Tasmania.
“We need a government that’s prepared to invest in intergenerational infrastructure like water and sewerage upgrades.”
