Community sector shows the compassion that’s lacking from government

 Community service sector shows leadership on Centrelink debacle
 Leading organisations come together to help Tasmanians feeling traumatised
 Compassion and leadership completely lacking from the Liberals

Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon has commended the community service sector for strongly responding to the Federal Liberal Government’s Centrelink debacle.

“Leaders in the community service sector have responded quickly and with great compassion,” Mr Bacon said.

“The Federal Government’s heartless approach to the Centrelink issue has left many Tasmanians feeling anxious and financially vulnerable.

“To see so many organisations come together to provide support and a safety net for the people affected is terrific.

“Labor calls on Premier Will Hodgman to stand up to his Federal colleagues on behalf of the Tasmanians caught up in the debacle.

“We’ve heard nothing from the Premier in response to what Kym Goodes from TasCOSS identifies as a “vacuum of leadership from the Turnbull Government”.

“The Turnbull Government has been focussed on saving its own political skin during an expenses scandal, instead of showing compassion to traumatised Australians caught up in the Centrelink mess.

“Will the Premier stand up to Canberra on behalf of the Tasmanians under enormous stress?
