Unlocking the tourism and economic potential of our parks

Posted on

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to boosting local, national and international tourism to our state to grow the economy and create jobs.
Following finalisation of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Management Plan, the Government is once again calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from private investors and tourism operators to develop tourism opportunities in Tasmania’s national parks, reserves and on crown lands.
This EOI round seeks proposals to develop sensitive and appropriate tourism experiences and associated infrastructure that will provide best practice environmental tourism and remain respectful of the natural and cultural values of these areas.
The EOI is statewide and includes all national parks, reserves and crown land, including the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Information on the Expression of Interest process is available from the Office of the Coordinator-General at www.cg.tas.gov.au/eoi_tourism
Administrative details:
The application documents will be available from the 17th of December 2016.
There is no deadline for this EOI round and it will remain open as a continuous process so that ideas can be proposed when fully planned and ready to progress or be put forward as opportunities arise.
Proposals will be carefully assessed by an expert Assessment Panel with proponents guided through the process and with their proposals by the Office of the Coordinator-General who will continue to provide individual case management assistance.
Proposals will undergo a rigorous assessment and proponents will be required to obtain all necessary statutory approvals as required under state and Commonwealth law.
Matthew Groom, Minister for State Growth
