Stage 1 water restrictions at Bridport
Bridport has been placed on Stage 1 water restrictions aimed at reducing non-essential water use by approximately 20 per cent.
The restrictions will help to manage the demand for water during the peak tourist period that sees a high growth in the town’s population.
“Water restrictions allow us to enforce sensible measures for water use in and around the house, while requiring only a small change from the community,” General Manager Corporate and Community Relations, Juliet Mercer, said.
“Bridport will experience its usual population increase as the tourist season picks up over summer, which will put a greater demand on the water supply to the town.
“As such, we have implemented Stage 1 water restrictions to help manage the water supply during this time.
“TasWater’s focus remains on sustainability and water conservation awareness through its Save Each Drop campaign.”
Stage 1 water restrictions allow the use of water each day, but with limited use during allocated hours.
Notices will be placed in local newspapers and on our website to inform the public.
The water restrictions will be in place until 20 April 2017.
Bridport residents and businesses can help to conserve water by following a few of these tips:
Don’t let your kitchen or bathroom tap run unnecessarily
Cut back on the length of time you take in the shower
Water your garden early in the morning or later in the evening.
