Liberals failing to work together on health
Ferguson’s belated criticism of rural health cuts
State and Federal governments failing to work together
Michael Ferguson’s belated criticism of the Federal Government’s treatment of rural health services in Tasmania typical of the Government’s reactive style.
Labor Leader Bryan Green said the Minister should have acted earlier.
“This issue has been in the spotlight for weeks and Michael Ferguson is only now voicing his concerns,” Mr Green said.
“Labor’s Federal MPs and Senators have been campaigning hard to get a better result for rural and regional communities.
“Labor agrees with Michael Ferguson’s assessment of the Primary Health Tasmania announcement but it begs the question of why the State Government repeatedly fails to work with its federal counterpart.
“Why is there such a huge disconnect between the State and Federal governments?
“Michael Ferguson knew this announcement was coming, he should have been in there fighting for a better deal for rural and regional Tasmania.
“Just like with the Mersey Hospital, Michael Ferguson has failed dismally to get a good result from Canberra.”
