Remembering road crash casualties
Today is the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR) commemorated each year on the third Sunday of November to remember people who have been killed on the roads.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to reducing fatal and serious crashes on our roads through our Towards Zero vision, and the day marks an appropriate time to reflect on lives lost on our roads and to remind all Tasmanians of our key road safety messages
The impact of every road fatality has a far-reaching and long-lasting effect, with many affected, and we should never accept that death and serious injuries on our roads are inevitable.
It’s the responsibility of all road users to ensure they act in a responsible and safe manner on our roads, and I encourage all Tasmanians to mark WDR by ensuring they drive safely ahead of the busy holiday season.
Rene Hidding, Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management
