… Supporting foster carers to help children and young people learn

Dear ,

I would like to invite you to the launch of a major Anglicare Tasmania research report:

Fostering Education: Supporting foster carers to help children and young people learn

Special Guests: Mark Morrissey, Children’s Commissioner, Foster and Kinship Carers Association of Tasmania, CREATE Foundation.

Monday 28th November

4.00pm – 5.00pm, includes afternoon tea

Gretel Room, Hobart Function and Conference Centre, Elizabeth Street Pier, Hobart

RSVP by Monday November 21st to megw@anglicare-tas.org.au

The report documents the experiences of foster carers and what they have found helpful or challenging in working alongside schools and the child protection system to promote education. It describes what kind of improvements they would like to see both to the educational support and opportunities available to students in out-of-home care and to better support foster carers in supporting education. The report concludes with 18 recommendations about how to improve the current situation.

The report will be formally launched by the Children’s Commissioner and there will be a short presentation on the research findings.
