Bruny Island Ferry Service – call for EOIs
The Hodgman Government has opened a two stage expression of interest/tender process to award a new contract to operate a ferry service between Bruny Island and mainland Tasmania.
The Government is intending to award a new long-term contract to operate the service in the second half of the 2017 calendar year.
The current contract is set to expire on 30 June 2018.
The Department of State Growth will advertise in national and local newspapers on Saturday, 19 November to call for potential operators to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to operate the service.
A shortlist of contractors will be identified when the EOI process closes on 25 January 2017 and will be invited to submit a formal tender.
The duration of the new contract will be 20 years in total (10 years, plus five years plus five years).
Marine Consultants, Thompson Clarke Shipping, have been engaged to provide advice to the Department.
Given the obvious importance of the service to the Island residents, businesses and visitors, the Government is focused on delivering a seamless transition to a new contract.
We will continue to update the Island community to keep it informed of our progress as we work towards awarding a new long-term ferry service contract.
