City of Devonport
This summer, five talented writers will have the chance explore the picturesque North West Coast of Tasmania as part of our next Young Writers in the City residency program.
The Tasmanian Writers Centre teams up with Devonport City Council to launch this outstanding opportunity and to invite writers aged 18-30 to apply.
Each resident will receive $300 and craft a 1500-2500 word experimental essay inspired by their explorations of venues such as the Devonport Regional Gallery, Mersey Bluff Beach, Rooke Street Mall, Bass Strait Maritime Centre, Spirit of Tasmania and Sea FM.
Writers will venture into their chosen venue during 2-3 hours for at least eight days during December and January. The residency will culminate in a reading of their original work before audiences at the Tidal Festival.
