HIA | CSR Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards
Tasmania’s most prestigious Housing Awards were held on Saturday, 15 October 2016 at Wrest Point Casino with awards given covering contemporary and older style homes.
Judged by industry professionals, the awards acknowledge the talent of designers, builders, suppliers and manufacturers who plan and construct quality new homes, townhouses, renovations, kitchens, bathrooms as well as outdoor and light commercial projects.
Rick Sassin Executive Director for HIA said “Over 500 builders from across the state attended the HIA-CSR Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards. All entries were outstanding, with the Home of the Year being awarded to Cordwell Lane for a contemporary home in Taroona.
An existing 1940’s brick house was demolished to make way for this residence comprising a pallet dominated by natural off form concrete, complemented with Tasmanian oak linings providing a counter balance to the concrete heart of the home. This complex building exudes warmth and around every corner there is an interesting feature to take in, exemplifying fastidious attention to detail and flawless workmanship.
Whilst designed and built to accommodate a young family, the home achieves harmony between raw material architecture and the owners’ desire to create a warm, welcoming environment for family and friends. The positioning of the house connects gently to the waterside environment providing water views from virtually every vantage point.
Mr Sassin said “We are excited about the future and the platform of positive changes to come with the immense building and planning reforms being introduced in Tasmania”.
During 2015, new dwelling starts increased by 18.8 per cent to 2,774 which represents the highest calendar year performance since 2010.
On behalf of our HIA Team, thank you to all of our generous sponsors and supporters and congratulations to all of the participants and winners of this year’s 2015 Housing and Bathroom and Kitchen Awards.
